PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up and runs grinders per direction, following blueprints, programs and job layouts.
- Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions them in machine spindles as specified.
- Manipulates controls and enters commands to specified set point and to start machine.
- Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Performs first piece inspection using precision measuring equipment and makes needed adjustments to maintain prescribed tolerances.
- Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
- Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
- Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS - One year Machining certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be able to create your own set-up
- Advanced knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an advanced understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
- Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication
