*About Us*

American Bath Group (ABG) is a leading manufacturer of high-quality bathware products, home to trusted brands such as Maax, Bootz, Aquatic, DreamLine, Swan, and more. Our mission is to deliver *innovative, safe, and sustainable products* that enhance everyday life. We live our values of *teamwork, integrity, continuous improvement, and customer focus* in everything we do.

*About the Role*

The *Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Engineer* is responsible for ensuring product designs are optimized for efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing. This role collaborates closely with design, engineering, and production teams to identify potential design issues, improve manufacturability, and streamline the product development lifecycle from concept through production.

The DFM Engineer will lead projects and indirectly supervise others on the implementation of New Product Development (NPD) programs, Advanced Concepts R&D, and VA/VE goals that require extensive cross-functional and cross-site (including international) coordination. Design for Six Sigma and NPD Stage/Gate processes will be leveraged to maximize the quality, speed, and business impact of projects.

*What You’ll Do*

* Ensure process parameters and product CTQs (functionality, cosmetics, reliability) and ease of manufacture are achieved from concept phase through launch.
* Develop and apply DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) guidelines, standards, and best practices.
* Conduct tolerance analysis and material/process evaluations for robust and repeatable manufacturing outcomes.
* Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to assess feasibility, tooling needs, and production scalability.
* Provide feedback on CAD models, drawings, and prototypes to eliminate unnecessary complexity and cost.
* Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
* Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to design-driven manufacturing issues.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, scrap, and production costs.
* Work cross-functionally with quality, procurement, and operations to validate design intent and manufacturability.
* Maintain engineering documentation, reports, and DFM review records.
* Review and validate supplier specifications against company standards; approve or reject as required.
* Communicate engineering and product development updates to leadership.
* Lead research, design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and tool design for new products or technologies.

*What We’re Looking For*

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
* 3+ years of experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, injection molding, casting, welding, and assembly.
* Experience with CNC and robotic programming, and equipment parameter optimization for quality and cycle times.
* Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of GD&T with ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Strong project management skills with ability to deliver on time.
* Hands-on approach to testing, prototyping, and proof-of-concept work.
* Minimum 1 year of work experience using 3D CAD modeling software, preferably PTC Creo.
* Experience with plastic and metals processes such as thermoforming, composites, injection molding, and extruding is a plus.
* Experience with PDM/PLM systems is a plus.
* MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
* Self-motivated, independent worker with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate across functions and with external suppliers.
* Must be willing to travel occasionally, including international (approx. 15%).

*Why Join ABG*

* Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits package.
* Opportunities for professional development and cross-functional collaboration.
* A culture of *teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.*
* The chance to directly impact new product development and manufacturing efficiency.
