Generator Road Service Mechanic
*Currently Hiring for Preventative Maintenance Technicians and A/Rodman Technicians*

New York City Territory

Pay : $47.46 - $60.19/hour

Key qualifications :
    \n
  • \n Minimum three (3) years' experience in Electric Power Generation , including troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, (generator, ATS, switchgear), AC and DC, and diesel engines required \n
  • \n
  • Advanced Electrical troubleshooting skills, breaker testing, paralleling generators, medium/high voltage, transformers, thermal scan (IR Scan) preferred
  • \n
  • \n Clean and valid driver's license required (this is a road/field service position)
  • \n
  • Must be computer proficient to be able to run diagnostic software and prepare service communications
  • \n
  • Must have strong communication and self-management skills
  • \n
  • Must be open to working overtime, including evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • \n
  • OSHA-30 Card (preferred)
  • \n

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Generator Assistant Service Manager, the Generator Road Service Mechanic is responsible for the following tasks:
    \n
  • Troubleshoot electrical & mechanical problems
  • \n
  • Efficiently utilize resources to correct problems & document steps taken
  • \n
  • Plan proper repair procedures for efficiency
  • \n
  • Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources
  • \n
  • Effectively communicate status of repair work with supervisor
  • \n
  • Represent the company in a positive, professional manner
  • \n
  • Communicate customers' options to correct current problems
  • \n
  • Advise customer of cost of repair and collect payment as required
  • \n
  • Complete/attend all safety meetings, computer-based trainings, audits, and other trainings as assigned
  • \n
  • Work in a proactive, safe manner in compliance with all safety protocols & training
  • \n
  • Immediately resolve and/or report all safety issues to supervisor
  • \n
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with all Contamination Control Initiatives
  • \n

Qualifications:

  • Standing and walking (including on uneven surfaces)

  • Sitting, body rotation, and forward bending (in both sitting and standing positions)

  • Lifting up to 60 lbs. (machine or team lift for items over 50 lbs.)
  • \n
  • Carrying up to 50 lbs. for short distances
  • \n
  • Push/pull tasks requiring up to 75 lbs. of force
  • \n
  • Climbing stairs and ladders (including non-standard access points)
  • \n
  • Crawling, kneeling (low work), and working in awkward/tight positions
  • \n
  • Strong grip strength (up to 80 lbs. with both hands; up to 30 lbs. with one hand)
  • \n
  • Hand coordination and overhead/extended reaching
  • \n
  • Operating equipment, machinery, foot pedals, and hand tools
  • \n
  • Outdoor work as required (exposure to weather and varying environments)
  • \n
  • Wearing up to 20 lbs. of PPE, including flame-resistant clothing, welding helmets/shields, and ANSI-rated protective footwear as required
  • \n
