Overview High School Equivalency (HSE) Instructor (Part-time) Located in the heart of New York's mid-Hudson Valley, Dutchess Community College (DCC) is part of the State University of New York system. Job Description Part-time HSE faculty provide effective instruction that prepares students to pass the NYS HSE exam (GED). Faculty teach the core subject areas of the High School Equivalency exam, prepare and implement lessons using contextualized curricula, and support a student-centered learning environment. Instructors should be adept at engaging a diverse and non-traditional student body. Instructors are responsible for supporting students' acquisition of knowledge and skills needed to pass the GED examination. In addition to teaching, instructors are expected to establish and maintain an organized and supportive classroom environment, maintain class rosters/academic progress records, work collaboratively with faculty and administrators, and confer with the coordinator regarding any student/classroom issues. Successful candidates must take and pass a proficiency math test. Daytime and evening hours are available at the Family Partnership as well as other locations in Dutchess County. Requirements Bachelor's Degree and teaching experience required (minimum of 1 year) Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree Experience teaching in HSE (GED) Preparation Programs Knowledge and experience writing thematic-based and/or contextualized curricula Additional Information Locations: In-person locations for this position are currently Fishkill and Poughkeepsie. Hourly Rate: $20-28 per hour, commensurate with education level. Dutchess Community College is an AA/EOE employer.
