Human Resources Specialist (Entry Level)

Serco is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Human Resources Specialist (Entry Level) to join our HR Shared Services team. This full-time, hourly role offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative and engaged team, supporting employees and contributing to our award-winning workplace culture. This position reports to the Manager of HR Shared Services, and is based out of our Herndon, VA headquarters location, with the ability to telework 1-2 days per week as applicable per the Manager's discretion.

In this role, duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Build relationships with recruiters and hiring managers and maintain, review and/or update program specific SOPs or hiring & onboarding requirements.
  • Responsible for e-file creation and tracking orientation status; data entry and maintenance, to include processing various transactions across our applicant tracking system, background & drug screening systems, and our HRIS system.
  • Assist in initiating and monitoring clearance and background checks, as well as other candidate onboarding related tasks.
  • Provide technical and general support to candidates and employees during the application and hiring process; and receive and respond to requests concerning HR policies, procedures, and processes via an online ticketing system and taking telephone calls.
  • This role will also appropriately route requests and work cross functionally with Payroll, Security, and other functions.
  • Be a liaison between internal and external callers for the Human Resources Department.
  • Support employee data maintenance by updating employee records, employee file management, and employee status data changes.
  • Advise employees, managers and external customers on Serco processes and procedures.
  • Support other HR functions including Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll, HRIS and Compensation.
  • Respond to HR tickets.
  • Assist with audits and legal requests.
  • Support ad hoc projects may include helping with mass onboardings and orientations.
  • Processing employee awards, sign-on bonuses, and vendor administration tasks.
  • Fulfill I-9 work eligibility requirements for new hires and support our global mobility process.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Associate's degree in related field with a minimum of 1 year of experience
    • Or HS Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by business

  • ATS & HRIS/HCM system experience a plus
