Job Description

Location- TBA Duration- TBA Commitment- FT/PT Compensation- TBA About Us: Bedrock-Recruiting provides project management solutions and reduces costs for our clients worldwide. We have developed expertise in managing complex programs through our global experience in major capital projects. We work in the Infrastructure, Energy, and Mining sectors to achieve predictable outcomes. Our fundamental approach is to reduce project costs. With an independent view, we bring clarity and rigour to help project teams work more effectively, raise delivery standards, and maintain schedules and budgets. At Bedrock-Recruiting, we pride ourselves on being able to identify and implement industry-leading project processes and methodologies. Role Overview/Description: A Mine Engineer (Mining Engineer) plans and oversees the safe and efficient development of mines and other surface or underground operations where earth materials are extracted. In this role, you will combine principles of engineering, geology, and economics to design mine layouts, determine extraction methods, and optimize production schedules. The Mine Engineer evaluates the viability of mineral deposits, prepares technical plans for excavation (including tunnels, pits, haul roads, and support infrastructure), and implements the latest technologies to maximize resource recovery while minimizing cost and environmental impact. You will work closely with geologists to understand the deposit, and with operations teams to coordinate drilling, blasting, and material handling. A key part of the role is ensuring that all mining activities meet safety regulations and that the mine is developed in a sustainable manner that addresses environmental and reclamation requirements. This is a critical position that serves as the bridge between the mine’s geological information and its day-to-day production practices, ultimately responsible for turning plans on paper into real-world mining operations. Responsibilities: Mine Design & Planning: Create detailed mine designs and layouts for both surface and underground operations, including pit designs, stope layouts, haulage routes, ventilation plans, and ground support systems. Operations Management: Oversee and coordinate daily mining operations to ensure adherence to the mine plan. Monitor production metrics and work closely with mine foremen and supervisors to implement plans on the ground and resolve any operational issues. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all mining activities comply with health and safety regulations as well as environmental standards. Resource Evaluation: Collaborate with exploration and geology teams to interpret geological data and model the ore body. Technology Implementation: Introduce and utilize advanced mining technologies to improve operations (e.g., automated equipment, mine planning and scheduling software, real-time monitoring systems). Budgeting & Scheduling: Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and production schedules for mine development and operation phases. Team Coordination: Work closely with other departments and stakeholders – including geologists, metallurgists, environmental specialists, maintenance, and management. Mentoring & Supervision: Depending on seniority, supervise junior engineers, technicians, or mine planning staff. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of mine plans, engineering analyses, and design changes. Write technical reports, such as feasibility studies, periodic mine progress reports, and incident investigation reports. Environmental and Reclamation Planning: Incorporate environmental considerations into mine planning, such as planning waste dump and tailings storage locations, water management, and eventual mine closure and land reclamation activities. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field (required) A Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering can be an asset for advanced technical roles or advancement. Professional Engineer (P Eng or PE) licensure, or the ability to attain such certification, is highly desirable. Experience: 3+ years of experience in mine engineering or operations for mid-level roles (or 5+ years for senior roles). Experience should cover some combination of mine planning, production engineering, drill-and-blast design, and project management in either open-pit or underground mines. Proficiency in specialized mining software and tools: e.g., mine design software, AutoCAD or other CAD tools, and mine scheduling software. Familiarity with geologic modeling software (Gemcom, Leapfrog) and GIS is also advantageous. Strong understanding of mining methods (surface and/or underground), ground control principles, ventilation, and equipment used in mining operations. A broad knowledge base allows you to design practical plans and troubleshoot issues in various mining contexts. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills – able to analyze production data, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and develop solutions to improve mining processes. Should be comfortable performing calculations for mine design (e.g., slope stability, blast parameters, haulage economics) and interpreting geological and geotechnical information. Demonstrated project management and organizational abilities, including preparing schedules and budgets, and managing multiple tasks or projects concurrently. Certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus. Strong leadership and communication skills. Must be able to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical plans to crew members and management clearly. Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff is beneficial for more senior Mine Engineer positions. Knowledge of mine safety regulations and environmental standards relevant to mining. Must be proactive about safety and design mines with worker well-being and environmental protection in mind. Ability to work in remote or challenging locations as needed, sometimes on rotation. Mining often occurs in isolated areas; willingness to travel to site and spend significant time at mine locations is required. Adaptability and continuous learning mindset – keeping up-to-date with advancements in mining technology, automation, and best practices in sustainable mining. Why Join Bedrock-Recruiting? Lead with Innovation: At Bedrock-Recruiting, we don’t just follow industry best practices – we help define them. Broad Project Exposure: Our projects span mining, energy, and infrastructure, giving you a chance to apply your skills in diverse contexts – from traditional mine development to renewable energy infrastructure projects. This broad exposure enhances your experience profile and keeps work fresh and engaging. Impact & Responsibility: You’ll play a key role in projects that have tangible impacts. Bedrock-Recruiting entrusts its engineers with significant responsibility, meaning your contributions will directly influence project successes. This trust comes with a supportive network and the resources needed to succeed. Career Advancement: We are a growing company with a philosophy of promoting from within. Competitive Compensation: Bedrock-Recruiting provides attractive salaries and comprehensive benefits. We look forward to welcoming an innovative and dedicated Mine Engineer to our team!
