Position Overview
St. Theodosius Orthodox Cemetery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Part-Time Cemetery Worker Assistant. This role supports the maintenance and care of our sacred cemetery grounds, ensuring a peaceful and respectful environment for visitors, families, and memorial services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and respect for the spiritual significance of the cemetery.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance : Assist in maintaining the cemetery grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, raking leaves, and removing debris to ensure a clean and dignified appearance.
Facility Upkeep : Clean and maintain pathways, benches, and other cemetery features; report any damages or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Assisting Visitors : Provide courteous and respectful assistance to visitors, including directing them to gravesites or answering basic inquiries about cemetery policies.
Equipment Maintenance : Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and shovels, ensuring proper care and storage.
Experience : No prior cemetery experience is required; training will be provided. Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or manual labor is a plus.
Physical Requirements : Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and standing or walking for extended periods.
Work Schedule : Approximately 16-24 hours per week, with flexibility based on cemetery needs and seasonal demands.
Compensation : Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience.

Reporting : Reports to the Cemetery Supervisor or Parish Rector.
Skills : Basic knowledge of groundskeeping tools and equipment; ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Personal Attributes : Compassionate, respectful, and sensitive to the sacred nature of the cemetery; reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
Availability : Must be available to work flexible part-time hours, including some weekends, to accommodate cemetery needs and special services.
