ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Production Supervisor (Paper Science) to support operations at OX Engineered Products Constantine, MI. This position will be responsible for providing ongoing technical support to the production department as well as primary support for Environmental Regulatory Compliance. Due to the size of the facility the Supervisor will be called upon to be involved in multiple aspects of the mill management. #HBEIA
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING \n
\n - Provide experienced supervision to support 6 or more shift
\n
\n
personnel to ensure manufacturing lines remain in working
order.
\n
\n - Ensure a quality product is manufactured in a safe and cost-
\n
\n
efficient manner.
\n
\n - Respond to emergency issues as required.
\n - Ensure company policies and procedures are maintained
\n
\n
and followed.
\n
\n - Provide technical support to the manufacturing team.
\n
\n
Job Duties and Responsibilities \n
\n - Promote a safe working environment in all interactions with mill personnel
\n
\n
as well as personally following all safety rules and regulations.
\n
\n - Improve the reliability of the process control systems. This includes the
\n
\n
DCS system as well as level, pressure and consistency control systems.
\n
\n - Day to day operation of the wastewater treatment facility.
\n - Initially performing the testing and data entry functions for the
\n
\n
Environmental Compliance and eventually obtaining a Certificate of
Competency for the facility.
\n
\n - Preparation of capital request, track project status and overall capital plan.
\n - Obtain quotes for equipment and/or services.
\n - Assist in design of additions/installations.
\n - Implement daily operations schedules as set forth by the Mill
\n
\n
Superintendent to meet production schedules, product standards, and
operational costs. Responsible for the operation of all prime machines on
respective shift and entire plant on off shift. Assist operators as necessary
to keep the lines running.
\n
\n - Input and/or review production inventory into production database to
\n
\n
ensure accurate reporting to finance.
\n
\n - Implement employee schedules as set forth by Mill Superintendent in
\n
\n
accordance with machine operating requirements.
\n
\n - By approval of Mill Superintendent, adjust schedules as necessary and
\n
\n
document attendance in an appropriate manner.
\n
\n - Support training of hourly shift employees to ensure daily objectives are
\n
\n
met.
\n
\n - Support coaching, motivating, and disciplining efforts of all hourly shift
\n
\n
production employees ensuring performance standards are met to
improve morale.
\n
\n - Responsible for documenting and communicating all issues to the Mill
\n
\n
Superintendent and Human Resources.
\n
\n - Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance issues with
\n
\n
Maintenance department.
\n
\n - In collaboration with Mill Superintendent, compose and follow through on
\n
\n
all necessary paperwork/documentation for such issues as employee
\n
performance evaluations, time & attendance system, downtime reports,
absenteeism reports and accident reports.
\n
\n - Protect company property and address emergencies in a timely manner.
\n - Implement good housekeeping throughout the facility.
\n - Treat others with dignity and respect.
\n - Set good examples of adhering to all time and attendance rules (be at
\n
\n
work at the beginning of scheduled shift and remain until the end of your
scheduled shift and/or when properly relieved unless communicated
otherwise by the Mill Superintendent.
Qualifications \n

\n - Applicant must give authorization to a background check.
\n - Perform all duties in a professional, productive manner, with emphasis on

\n - Bachelor's Degree - Mechanical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, or
\n
\n
other engineering discipline.
\n
\n - Process Control and web handling knowledge.
\n - Fundamental understanding of ancillary technologies associated with
\n
\n
design and manufacturing of product within paper mills.
\n
\n - Excellent analytical skills required.
\n - Computer knowledge of Microsoft office and CAD.
\n - Strong planning and organizing skills.
\n - Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting.
\n - Ability to work and think independently.
\n - Ability to assume a leadership role when needed on a project.
\n - Must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
\n
\n
Work Environment \n
\n - Climate: Heat, humid.
\n - Fumes or airborne particles (dust, smoke).
\n - Contact with chemicals (cleaners, oils).
\n - Protective equipment.
\n - Employees work around moving mechanical parts, tools and machinery.
\n - Works under the direction of the Engineering Manager and Director of Operations.
\n
\n
Physical Demands \n
\n - Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently
\n
\n
lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to
75 pounds.
\n
\n - Frequently required to stand, walk, bend and reach (both
\n
\n
above and below the shoulder).
\n
\n - Occasionally required to: climb, push, or pull items.
\n - While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required
\n
\n
to use both hands, talk, hear and see.
