ESSER Grant Funded Academic Success Coach – High School

December 30, 2025

Job Summary:

Under the direction of school administration, the Academic Success Coach supports high school students’ academic growth, positive behavior, and personal responsibility. The coach supervises students in the Student Responsibility Center, facilitates reflective and prosocial activities, and implements targeted interventions. This role also oversees after-school detention and collaborates with staff to promote students’ academic and behavioral success.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent related professional experience
  • Able to assess and document student academic progress
  • Professional in personal conduct and actions with students, staff, and families
  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working with high school students in structured or supervised settings
  • Ability to establish and maintain clear expectations, routines, and order
  • Experience supporting student behavior through interventions or restorative practices
  • Ability to manage group dynamics in a calm, respectful manner
  • Experience providing academic support and monitoring student work
  • Successful experience working with at-risk students
  • Experience using technology to support learning and accountability
  • Experience collaborating within a Professional Learning Community

Duties:

  • Collaborate with staff to identify at-risk students and coordinate targeted academic and behavioral supports
  • Provide direct support to at-risk students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms
  • Supervise and manage students assigned to the Student Responsibility Center (SRC)
  • Maintain a structured, orderly environment that supports academic focus and accountability
  • Initiate and facilitate reflective and prosocial learning activities to improve student behavior
  • Support students in monitoring progress and setting goals related to behavior and academics
  • Implement and monitor accommodations and interventions for students in need
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and administrators to support the whole child (SEL and behavior)
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of Personal Learning Plans
  • Complete behavior documentation, referrals, and intervention plans with students and families
  • Communicate effectively to build positive, supportive relationships with students and families
  • Consult with school staff and outside agencies to coordinate student support services
  • Use effective organization, time management, and independent work strategies
  • Support building supervision needs, including lunchroom coverage as needed and supervision of after-school detention
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
