Job Description

A Camera Operator for the Tampa Bay Rays is a game day position that works as a part of Raysvision to execute the in-house shows during all Tampa Bay Rays home games. The Camera Operator is responsible for running a broadcast/ENG camera while covering the game action assigned to their specific camera position. The Camera Operator plays a key role in enhancing the game day experience for fans. The incumbent must be flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced environment wherein critical thinking and the ability to effectively follow direction are essential.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to pre-production meetings each game
  • Work with the game day Director, Technical Director and Shader to fax out cameras
  • Run-through and get comfortable with all camera controls/specific camera position responsibilities
  • Maintain situational awareness during the entire game and inning breaks
  • Follow leads from game day Director and Producer
  • Work with the control room team to execute high quality shows
  • Working knowledge of broadcast/ENG cameras
  • Provide general support to the Game Presentation Department
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience with live sports productions
  • Experience operating a broadcast/ENG camera
  • Experience operating a RONIN camera a plus, but not required
  • Willingness to operate a wireless/handheld camera
  • Ability to interact with Tampa Bay Rays fans
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work the entire event including pre- and post-game activities
  • Knowledge of MLB rules and very strong understanding of baseball
  • Works well in fast-paced/live event, high pressure situations
  • Act as a role model within and outside the Rays Organization
  • Adhere to Rays Organization Policies and Procedures
