Summary/Objective

The Coatings Assistant - Painter I supports powder paint & other finish coatings by hanging, preparing, and packaging parts and products.

Duties and responsibilities

• Wipe and clean items and surfaces to be finished. Mask, plug critical features like machined holes or other specified features noted on prints or as directed by Lead or Supervisor
• Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles
• Maintain correct part line density and hanging standard as directed by Lead or Supervisor
• Visually inspect parts are they are being hung and unhung for scratches and defects, notify Lead or Supervisor of issues
• Do not perform rework, unless trained and added to "approved grinder list"
• Maintain job data as product is hung within Powder Spreadsheet
• Ensure proper counts and quantities for finished product as product is being packaged for transportation within Gardena or other Jtec facilities
• Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information and make certain all internal loads have proper paperwork
• Utilize the correct packaging dunnage or part protection to ensure product is not damaged due to contact with other parts or the containers

Qualifications

• Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

Working conditions

• Sounds, Noise - Job requires frequent exposure to noises that may be distracting or uncomfortable
• Indoors, Not Environmentally Controlled – Job requires working in a metal fabrication and warehouse environment without a cooling system.
• Exposed to Contaminants - job requires frequent exposure to chemicals, gases, and odors related to industrial coatings
• Wear Common Protective or Safety Equipment: Job requires constant use of the required personal protective equipment, in this case a respirator fit to the face
• Duration of Typical Work Week – as a full-time position the standard schedule is 40 hours/week. Production volumes will often require voluntary or mandatory weekday and/or weekend overtime.

Physical requirements

• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lb parts or fixtures.
• Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead to assemble and/or move products.
• Must be able to work in safety sensitive role, fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or alcohol, including prescribed or over the counter drugs or other substances which may alter job performance during working times (e.g., drowsiness, impaired reflexes or reaction time, lack of concentration, etc.).
• Must be able to pass respirator fitness for duty requirements.
• Must be able to stand and work on your feet for an entire shift
