Job Description

Established fine art photography gallery in Santa Monica seeks a gallery assistant. The employee will work with the Director and gallery staff on daily tasks, packing/shipping, long-term projects and overall organization. We are looking for someone with career aspirations in the Fine Art world, and a passion for photography. This is a fast paced, hands-on, career orientated position. Gallery/Museum/Archive/Art Handling expereince encouraged. Competitive compensation will be offered. Candidates must be local to Los Angeles. Daily tasks may include:

• Keeping inventory safely and accurately organized in archival boxes and framed storage areas, and database information updated as needed
• Pulling works for client viewing and assisting sales staff, often without prior notice
• Packing works for shipping and assisting with client installations
• Receiving and registering works in ArtLogic Database system
• Exhibition and event assistance
• Coordination of Domestic and International shipping
• Front of gallery work including phone and email correspondence, client services and sales assistance

Experience / Skills required:

• Completion or current pursuit of Bachelors (4-year) Degree with relevant coursework
• Able to lift 30+ lbs (i.e. Large framed works, box of books, case of prints)
• Familiar with Apple computers and Adobe Creative Suite applications (PS, ID)
• Displayed knowledge of fine art photography and photographic art history
• Organized, punctual and focused.
• Team player with "can-do" attitude and great communication skills
