Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A certified Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support K-12 students in educational settings within Fresno, CA. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide essential communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students on a per diem basis, with assignments across multiple schools in the district. Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff. Support students with hearing impairments across various grade levels in general education and specialized settings. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all interactions. Collaborate with educational teams to ensure effective communication and accessible learning environments. Participate in ongoing professional development and training as required. Qualifications and Experience: Must hold current National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter. EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or valid credentials such as Registered Interpreter of the Deaf (RID) Membership or Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive (ESSE-I/R). Completion of the NAD/ACCI assessment is also accepted. Prior experience in educational settings preferred but not mandatory. Strong understanding of Deaf culture and language nuances is essential. Location: Fresno, California (on-site) Contract Details: Position available ASAP through June 11, 2026. Per diem hours with the number of schools and specific caseload to be determined.
